Confirm gradation and delivered yield
Ask the quarry for the selected product's loose bulk density, compaction expectation, and truck capacity.

How the calculation works
We use 105 lb/ft³ adjustable planning assumption.
Formula: driveway volume × 105 lb/ft³ ÷ 2,000, plus waste
Worked example
A 50 × 10 ft driveway at 4 in depth is about 9.6 tons with 10% waste.
Measure each driveway course
Use finished length, average width, and compacted target depth for each base or surface layer separately.
Frequently asked questions
Can base and surface gravel be combined?
Calculate them separately because gradation, density, and target depth may differ.
Why is supplier density important?
Truck loads are sold by weight while the driveway specification is usually based on placed volume.
